World’s Strongest Man Channel 5 Talent

The UK broadcast of the Commerce World’s Strongest Man will be on Channel 5 this Christmas time. Standby for a full schedule soon. In antipication we are pleased to announce the talent for the Channel 5 edition.

James Richardson presents the entire series encompassing the Giants Live Qualifiers, and for The Finals in Botswana he is joined by Sarah-Jane Crawford and the mighty Magnus Ver Magnusson.

James is a familiar face to millions on Channel 5 at this time of year, and has been hosting the channel’s WSM coverage since 2011.  He first came to fame in the 90’s on Channel 4’s Football Italia, and when not strength training at the gym he now also hosts Premier League football around the world and Champions League for BT Sport, as well as helming the Uk’s no 1 sports podcast, the Guardian’s Football Weekly. As well as presenting The Finals in Botswana, James guides us through the Giants Live International Qualifiers as well.

We’d like to welcome Sarah-Jane Crawford to WSM. The multi-talented TV presenter / DJ / actress / model, can turn her hand to anything! Her stints on The Xtra Factor as well as hosting her own show on BBC Radio 1xtra, to name just a few of the productions she’s been involved with, have made her one of the most in demand presenters right now. With a passion for fitness and all things vegan (she has a Vegan app being launched early in 2017) Sarah-Jane joins the team for The Finals in Botswana. Watch out for a film release – ‘Hatton Garden Job’ that stars Sarah-Jane, due for release in March 2017.

What can we say about Magnus Ver Magnusson that hasn’t already been said? The words ‘Icon’, ‘Legend’, ‘Champion’ all apply… and now ‘TV presenter’. The 4-time WSM champ will guide us through the more technical aspects of some of the events and lends his expert opinion on who to look out for as the stories unfold in Botswana.

And that’s not all. For shows focusing on The Finals in Botswana we’ve been lucky enough to have the very talented Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje voice the openers and features. Adewale has been on our TV and film screens in the form of Mr Eko from the hit series LOST. He also appeared in the 5th season of Game of Thrones as Malko. Adewale has also starred in several high profile films including The Bourne Identity, The Mummy Returns, Concussion and most recently Suicide Squad.

Gripping the commentators microphones are Colin Bryce and Danny Wallace.

Danny is a writer of bestselling books, presenter and former XFM Breakfast show DJ, and has a panache for frequently popping up when you least expect him as any Assassin’s Creed fan knows. His weekly columns in Shortlist Magazine have gained a cult-like status, and since 2015 Danny has been the lead commentator on WSM.

Colin Bryce is a central pillar in the super-sized World of Strongman. He has been involved in the World’s Strongest Man contest since 1996, when his then job was the bruising task of being the contest kit tester. Since then, the Britain’s Strongest Man Finalist turned Winter Olympian has built up the Giants Live Qualifying Tour to give new talent a chance to compete with the greats of the sport in one-day Arena based contests. Colin joined the WSM commentary team in 2005 and since then he hasn’t released his grip on the expert’s microphone – which he will no doubt claim to be another Strongman World Record!

A full listing of the UK Channel 5 schedule will be posted soon.
